Mitch Ware - 1973 Jensen Healey #41
History:
VIN 11002 was a completely rust free Jensen that was
purchased out of Southern California in ~1990
by a gentleman with the intent of turning it into a race car. He had it shipped
to his home in central Massachusetts
and began the work of converting it. He stripped it down to a rolling tub and
painted it bright yellow (it was originally white). After the paint dried he
put it in his garage and threw a tarp over it.
I purchased the car, along with a set of NOS Spax shocks
from him in 2011 with the intent of building it to replace my MGB-GT to move up
from HRG2 into HRG3.
Reading the GCR I found the allowed modifications and decided to do a full prep on the car. Mods include:
Car Details:
The car was built over the course of a year at Kim Graff’s shop in Amsterdam NY and made its track debut at Lime Rock Park for the Jaguar Club event in May of 2013. I’m approaching 2013 as a developmental year with hope of working on being competitive in 2014.
Lotus 912 Cam towers (no oil leaks like the ones from the 907 engine)
1980 Toyota 4WD truck rear end assembly with either 4.56 or 4.38 LSD gears
Huffaker fiberglass wide body kit
Ford Taurus lower ball joints to replace the very weak stock ones.
Twin Weber DCOE 45 carbs with 34 or 37mm chokes
4 quart accusump
12 gallon ATL fuel cell
Wizard Cooling 4 row aluminum radiator
Custom coil springs
Spax adjustable shocks
Watt’s linkage to locate the rear end
